Rich In Features

Grayscale Content Management System allows you to manage 13 types of specific content. Unless otherwise noted, all content types below allow you to add/edit/delete categories of content as well as the individual entries. The public display of these items utilizes these categories in different ways. For example, the articles are listed linearly by order of 'newest-to-oldest', and the categories are used to "filter" the list of articles. On the other hand, FAQs are listed by categories first, then the user "drills down" to see the questions in that category. In still a different example, the Links page displays all links on one page, but they are separated by category. In each instance, we’ve chosen what we feel would be the most user-friendly presentation of that type of content.

  • Articles
  • FAQs
  • Files Downloads - allows for the sharing of any type of file you can think of. For enhanced security, you can limit what types of files you make available during the configuration process.
  • Photo Gallery - automatically creates thumbnails for your images as well as retaining the original.
  • Guestbook - avoids guestbook spam while retaining your users' privacy by "munging" their e-mail address
  • Links
  • Mailing List - provides you with the ability to have an email-only mailing list or one which can also be used to send postal mail as well. This mailing list programs also prints labels. Lastly, this mailing list ensures that all messages are sent, by inserting them into a queue in the database, sending the messages behind-the-scenes.
  • News - not only can you maintain & archive your news, but you can also send news to your mailing list at the same time. There's no need to use BOTH the separate mailing list feature and the news feature to send news messages to your mailing list, as you can post news to the site and to the mailing list at the same time.
  • Events - maintains an events calendar on the site, automatically creating a link to a Mapquest map if you enter an address to your event
  • Tell-A-Friend Form
  • Contact Form
  • Glossary
  • "Boilerplate" content
    • Terms of Use
    • Privacy Policy

Manage any other sort of content

This CMS has a unique component which also allows you to manage any other type of content you can think of. The truth is, you don't need any of the other features (i.e. articles, etc.) to have a fully-functional CMS. We created those 13 unique content types because we feel that some content needs special ways of handling them. For instance, we feel it is more useful to handle the links in the way we did, but if you just wanted to create a links page with the "general cms" feature, you can.

The "General CMS" feature allows you to enter any type of content on the site and have it automatically show on the site. Additionally, we facilitate the creation of relationships between your pages that can go infinitely deep (more on that below), and can be part of the primary site structure, a secondary structure, or supplemental content.

Other features

There is a myriad of other features available with Grayscale Content Management System, including, but not limited to:

Powerful search engine - using a customized version of PHPDig, integrated & optimized for use on this CMS

Site Map - the Grayscale CMS automatically creates a Site Map for you, which allows for enhanced usability, accessibility, and search-engine friendliness. We also use this same data for a Google Site Map and Alexa SiteInfo File

Supports plain text, "BB Code", and HTML entries. The CMS can also be configured to use a WYSIWYG plug-in.
